Second-floor addition and complete remodel of a 1920's craftsman-style house.
The existing house was located amongst several large, old-growth hardwood trees, and extreme care was taken to maintain the health of the "urban forest." Indoor living spaces were designed to gently transition to outdoor space, blurring the lines between heated space and outdoor hardscaping. A chef's kitchen opens to a new den, which opens to a screened porch and a connecting terrace. The master suite and guest suite on the upper floor each connect to private covered porches, perched amongst the trees.
